5 Tips For A Great Smile

According to American beauty standards, white teeth are in, and yellow is out.  In fact, Americans spend millions a year on their teeth, hoping to eventually achieve that perfect grin.

Unless you have the budget to pay for veneers, which let’s face it, not everyone does, then take a look at some of the ways that you can get whiter teeth and reduce your risk of decay.

Quality Toothbrush

Just like an artist can’t paint a masterpiece without the proper paintbrush, nor can you achieve a fantastic set of teeth without a great toothbrush.  Consider investing in a high-quality toothbrush.

It may seem like a crazy expense when you compare the price of an electric toothbrush to something you can buy for under $5 at the drugstore, however, if your goal is fantastic looking teeth, then a regular toothbrush just won’t cut it.

A good toothbrush will get rid of stains and debris which not only lead to a yellow smile, but you’ll also have less risk for cavities.

Brush Twice a Day

The more that you brush, the happier that your teeth will be.  Every time that you eat and drink something, the remnants stay on your teeth.  People who brush at least twice a day have considerably less build up, and better breath!

If you’re not concerned for your health, then at least consider it for your vanity!

Floss

A lot of people underestimate the power of flossing.  Brushing alone gets rid of debris which remains on the enamel of the tooth.  However, it’s important to get in between each tooth, particularly if your teeth sit very close to each other.

You should floss at least once a day in an upward and downward motion.  If you bleed, it’s an indication that you’re not flossing enough.  The more that your gums are accustomed to flossing, then the less that you’ll bleed.

Get Regular Cleanings

One of the most effective things that you can do to get a fantastic smile is to get regular cleanings done.  Most dentists recommend going in every six months for a professional cleaning. As a result, your teeth will get rid of the build-up that only professional tools can lift.

In addition, they can keep an eye on any issues which may be coming up which need immediate attention.

Avoid Coffee and Smoking

If you notice that your teeth are particularly yellow despite your best efforts, then you may want to take a look at your lifestyle.  Do you smoke? Do you drink a lot of coffee? Both of these habits are sure to yellow your teeth. If you absolutely must do these two things, be sure to rinse your mouth out afterward each time.
